Dr. Chapman was raised in Seattle, attained his bachelor of science degrees in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale College in 1982, and graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1987. He completed his residency in urologic surgery at the University of Kentucky and has been with Swedish Urology Group since 1992. Throughout his career, Dr. Chapman has enhanced his skills through specialty instruction in sophisticated procedures such as Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, laser and shock wave therapies for urinary stones, Microsurgery, Microwave Thermotherapy, laser therapies for prostate enlargement and Renal Transplantation. Dr. Chapman has also enjoyed many notable appointments including Chief of Urology at Swedish Medical Center from 1998 to 2002 and President for the King County Medical Society in 2006. Peer recognition has come from his multiple publications in leading medical journals whereas community recognition has named him one of "Seattle’s Best Doctors" three years in a row. Although his urologic interests are in laparoscopic surgery of the urinary tract, oncology, urinary incontinence, stones, vasectomy, and vasectomy reversal, Dr. Chapman’s greatest interest is maintaining the highest quality of life possible for his patients. |
Thomas C. Green, M.D.

Dr. Green is a board certified Urologist with a passion for minimally invasive prostate cancer treatments who is specialized in all aspects of Adult Urology focusing on Prostate and Kidney Cancer. He is a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and finished Medical School at CMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School. He completed his Internship and Urology Residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. After residency he studied Urologic Oncology with Maurice Camey MD in Suresnes, France and obtained his lithotripsy skills in Germany. He is the past chief of Urology at Providence Hospital in Seattle and is an associate clinical professor of Urology at the University of Washington. He is a urological instructor in brachytherapy with the Seattle Prostate Institute and is a trained proctor in cryotherapy for prostate cancer. Other specialized training includes HIFU and CyberKnife. Dr. Green is also noted for many innovative urological firsts in the treatment of prostate cancer: he was the first urologist to place Calypso beacons after FDA approval, he was the first urologist in the west coast trained on the Cyberknife, he is one of the few Seattle Urologists trained in HIFU and he has been performing brachytherapy for more years than any other full-time practicing urologist in the Pacific Northwest. |
Erik L. Torgerson, M.D.

Dr. Torgerson joined Swedish Urology Group in 2000. He received his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine where he graduated with honors and was named to Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He trained in General Surgery and Urology at the University of California, Los Angeles. As a resident, he participated in prostate cancer research. He received numerous accolades during his training at UCLA including the Willard Goodwin Award for Excellence in Resident Education, Resident of the Year (1995), Department of Surgery, and Golden Heart Award/Resident of the Year (1994), Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr Torgerson's interests in Urology include voiding dysfunction/incontinence, benign and malignant prostate disease, stone disease and vasectomy. He is also very involved in the training of other physicians in radioactive seed implantation for prostate cancer through the Seattle Prostate Institute. Since joining Swedish Urology Group, Dr. Torgerson has has helped develop the Swedish Incontinence Center/Referral Service and currently serves on the Swedish Medical Center Cancer Committee. In January 2009, Dr. Torgerson became Chief of Urology at Swedish Medical Center. Dr. Torgerson has also been named multiple times as one of Seattle's best urologists by both Seattle Metropolitan Magazine and Seattle Magazine. Dr Torgerson was raised in Houston, Texas but his family roots are in the Northwest. He is married with two children. His hobbies include foreign travel, foreign languages and skiing. He is fluent in Italian and Spanish. Dr Torgerson's wife is an Italian native and he hopes one day to spend more time enjoying the Italian culture and countryside. |
